Thanks for visiting. Let us introduce ourselves and the concept of Milton Creative Crafts.
We are a semi-retired couple living in the Beechwood area of Newport, South Wales. We love this area for many reasons, but not least the wonderful scenery of South Wales, and the lovely parks around the area.
During the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown we were unable to travel to visit our relatives. this resulted in our being unable to see our grown up son and daughter for over eighteen months. As a direct result of the pandemic we began looking for ways to move closer to family to ensure that in future we could be together if any further lockdown scenarios occurred.
This of course meant giving up our employment at the time (Sue as a HLTA teaching assistant and Shane as an electronic test and calibration engineer). After much discussion and soul searching it was decided to pursue our existing hobbies and passtimes to see if we could make a little income in order to subsidise the savings that we would use to survive on until our official retirement dates.
Once settled into our new home we set about starting our new venture “Milton Creative Crafts”, the objective being to provide a range of services and craft products, with an emphasis on using local materials, being as environmentally responsible as practicable, and to re-use, re-purpose and up-cycle goods and materials where this was appropriate.
Sue Humphrey
Sue worked for around 31 years in education as a classroom assistant (HLTA), taking a particular interest in working with children with special educational needs. Sue has enjoyed various crafts over the years including crochet, pyrography and furniture up-cycling. Sue is the main creative influence in the partnership.

Shane Humphrey
The early part of Shane’s career involved working in the retail and building trades. Many practical and craft skills were developed during this time. Later he decided to pursue a career in electronics as this had been a hobby for many years. This led to around thirty years working in various aspects of electronics ranging from being a television and audio engineer to working in industry as a test and calibration engineer. Shane has many practical skills and tries to make Sue’s creative ideas come to fruition.

Bobby the Dog
Bob is the inspiration behind much of what we do and is without doubt the brains of the outfit. He features on the yellow ‘Bobby Badge’ that appears on some larger pieces of our craftwork. Apparently Bob is a cockerpoo, we however suspect that with his colouring and the way he bounces up and down, that he has some springer spaniel in him as well. It really doesn’t matter what peculiar mix of breeds he is though, he is perfect as he is and we love him to bits.
